Registrations for the 2010 Summer Camps began at the Transistion Institute at West High School in October 2009.
If you would like to get your name on the campers list, please email Cheri Howlett at Cah37849@aol.com
Due to an overwhelming response and it being listed in the Knox News Sentinel in February, we are only taking names for the waiting list for BOTH camps.
We are still accepting applications for "Volunteer and Peer Mentor" applications at this time.
If you would like to be on the Open Doors Email list, please email Cheri at Cah37849@aol.com
Open Doors Tennessee will be hosting the 2nd year of our Social Skills Camp program this summer.
These camps will benefit both children and teens with autism as well as their peers.
We chose to focus on AUTISM since there are very few services and/or camps that benefit individuals with autism in east Tennessee.
What makes our camp unique is that we are trying to get peer mentors at the camper's school so that they will be able to help them with social skills
at school, too. In addition, this peer mentor would provide a smoother transition into the summer camp experience.
Our camp goals include:
To enhance camper's leisure and social skills aI have attached the 2010 Open Doors TN Autism Social Skills
Camp "Volunteer" Application. If you would like to be a
adult volunteer or know of someone who would like to volunteer
during the summer, please print the application and mail it
back to us and/or forward the application to anyone you feel
might be interested in this wonderful "Camp" opportunity.
Please note that there is a list of volunteer positions on the
actual application. Please see the printable "Volunteer"
application at the top of this page!
