Open Doors Tennessee
Did you know?

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 49.7 million Americans have a disability, which includes people of all ages. About two-thirds of these individuals have a severe disability.

I would like to introduce you to my family. I’m Steve Johnson and my wife of 19 years and the brains of our group Kelly Johnson. Together we have 2 boys, William who is 12 years old and Matthew is 8 years old.

In 2004 William was diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability. Upon receiving this news we went into let’s find out everything there is to know about this diagnoses mode. After countless hours on the internet and on the phone talking with other families with disabilities and doctors we thought, "Wouldn’t it be great if there was a place on the web with information in our area for families with disabilities."

A few years passed, and I threw a crazy event on eBay (read story on home page). I call the eBay event my awakening. What I mean by this is God woke me up to serving others---reaching me through my sense of humor :). We began a foundation and dedicated it to resourses in Tennessee in the hopes of making it easier for families to see what is available to them in our area. From doing this, we hosted the Open Doors Fair, and now we are very excited to be working on a Social Skills Camp for Elementary and High school students. The ground breaking for a Therapeutic Farm has begun with more information to come soon.

We want to thank you for taking the time to visit Open Doors TN, and please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

God Bless,
Steve & Kelly Johnson
